North American aboriginal people and other indigenous peoples worldwide are experiencing an epidemic of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and its complications. This article reviews the "hefty fetal type" hypothesis that excess fetal nutrition is the overriding factor in the this epidemic of T2DM among thrifty genotype peoples.Downloads
