Transpersonal connectedness within the physician-patient relationship is the ability of the physician to underĀstand the feelings of the patient. This empathy is important for the physician to understand what the illness means to the patient. It can be an essential aspect of the physician's therapy as illustrated in this case presentation of a patient with Hansen's disease.
